Fuel Efficient Driver Training
Rising Fuel Prices = Reduced Margins
According to UK government statistics, the UK’s 422,000 Large Goods Vehicles travelled approximately 22.2 billion kilometers in 2008 – that’s an average of 52,132 km or 32,582 miles per vehicle.
Assuming an average fuel consumption of 8 miles per gallon, each vehicle used over 4,000 gallons of fuel.
The Department of Transport states that a fleet’s fuel consumption can be typically reduced by 5% simply by implementing a fuel management programme. By reducing fuel consumption by 1,000 litres per vehicle, per year, will save an operator approximately £1,000 per vehicle at today’s prices.
Reducing fuel consumption by one thousand litres per vehicle per year will
- Save an operator £700 per year
- Save 2.6 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide emissions per year
Implementing fuel efficient driving techniques results in
- Lower operating costs
- Improved profit margins
- Reduced emissions
- Improved environmental performance
- Less wear and tear on the vehicle
- Reduction in servicing and maintenance costs
At Logistics Learning World we have developed a specific programme of instruction for drivers that can help you to achieve similar cost savings.
We can provide you with guidance and assistance on other SMART fuel saving methods including:
- Advice on vehicle design
- Aerodynamics
- Telematic solutions
