Case Study: DR & FA Ford
News
19th April 2010

Established over 20 years ago, DR & FA Ford have come along way since the days when owner, David Ford first started the business with just one vehicle.
The company specialises in the transportation of goods and agricultural materials. Naming some of the UK’s largest DIY outlets as its longest standing clients, DR & FA Ford also services the agricultural sector across the West of the country. Over time, the firm has also established long-standing customers on continental Europe.
David Ford of DR & FA Ford comments:
“We began working with Logistics Learning World shortly after a visit from Business Development Manager, Rob Taylor. At first, I just thought the training would be just another cost. However, when Rob explained how it would all work I could see that the benefits of periodic training over the next five years far out weighed any costs involved. I took the decision to organise the training for all of our drivers, starting with the one day, Tachographs and The Working Time Directive course.”
“As November and December is a quiet period for us, it made sense to organise the training then. All of the drivers were prepared to do the training - our staff are highly trained people; they all recognise the importance of CPC compliance. Without the CPC card you may as well not have a licence!”
“I was very impressed by the service LLW provided. The JAUPT approved trainers made everything so easy for us. LLW dealt with all the paperwork through the DVLA. For me it was hassle free, meaning I could get on with running the business. The facilities were spot on with the training taking place in the local village hall, a venue that everyone was familiar with.”
“The feedback from the drivers has been nothing but positive. As the module was so relevant to the business, the seven hours seemed like a very small amount of time to have to commit to, as part of the periodic training requirement of 35 hours. The training clarified a few key areas to the drivers and they were very appreciative that the training had all been organised for them.”
“The training materials were well presented and were relevant. LLW provided all pre-course details and communicated everything really well. I was pleased with how quickly the certificates came through after the training - literally the following week!”
“I believe that my employees are ambassadors for the business. The training sets them above the rest and helps with motivation and loyalty, in addition to ultimately ensuring that everyone is compliant and can keep driving and working.”
“I would happily recommend LLW to anyone thinking about Driver CPC training - in fact I’ve already started to do this as I know a lot of other local logistics firms who are looking for someone to provide their CPC training. I’ve been more than happy to put them all in touch with LLW.”
