Operating for ten years, the haulage firm employs thirty people, including drivers, transport planners and garage staff. 3. "I’d been thinking about training and NVQs for some time,” says Owner Manager, Kim Powell. “Particularly at the importance of training in relation to risk reduction. When Sarah Stevenson contacted me about Logistics Learning World and explained about how the training could be delivered around our operation, I saw a definite way to move forward.”

5. “There was a mixed response from the drivers at first, however all doubts vanished as soon as they actually started the programme. Once they had met the Learning World assessor and realised he came from a transport  background himself, they felt a lot more relaxed. The assessor would go out on runs with the drivers, working alongside them to gather the material needed for the NVQs.”

7. “All of the drivers have gone through the programme, taking Level 2 NVQs in either Driving Goods Vehicles or Carry and Deliver Goods. Training helps with staff morale, providing the drivers with qualifications they can be proud of, as well as giving me peace of mind that my team is fully up to speed on best practice and safety procedures – all of which reduces my business risk.”

Getting the drivers together in one place for the initial induction session was a little difficult, however with the support and help of Paula and Sarah, we managed it without any real problems.
