Sheffield Health and Social Care Trust Transport Services are responsible for the city wide logistics requirements of the ‘care in the community’ phase of health care in Sheffield. This service is provided by a fleet of 20 vehicles, all under 3.5 tonnes, including panel vans, tail-lift equipped vehicles and custom fitted vehicles for delivery of mail and parcels to doctors’ surgeries and various Trust sites.
Logistics Learning World is working with the Trust to provide Level 2 NVQs in Carry and Deliver Goods to 18 drivers.
Assistant Transport Manager (Training), Harvey Walker explains:
“Under our ‘duty of care’ requirements we supply relevant training to all drivers employed on transport duties, this includes driving assessments, moving and handling as well as health and safety.”
“As an accredited Investor in people, Sheffield Health and Social Care Trust are constantly seeking programmes that may enhance our service delivery capabilities. One of the main tools in achieving this objective is by providing staff with relevant training.”
“Logistics Learning World is providing the Trust with an opportunity to obtain a nationally recognised vocational qualification. This route to qualification fits the working patterns and requirements of our road staff duties and time commitments.”
“As you can appreciate, the Trust receives many offers from external training suppliers. The level, type and method of training offered by Logistics Learning World fulfilled all the criteria the Trust lays down to provide ‘best practice’ in the training of our staff.”
“The process is working well. Evaluation and performance monitoring of our staff is being carried out with the minimum of intrusion and disturbance during duty periods. All of Logistics Learning World team are providing excellent feedback and they are very flexible to our working time requirements. I’ve no doubt that we will be able to complete this training exercise to everyone’s benefit, thus fulfilling our training obligations."
