What is Periodic Training?

Periodic Training is a way for experienced drivers to prove that they are safe, courteous and fuel efficient drivers. The training also helps to keep drivers up to date and aware of the latest legislation.

The Directive became effective from 10th September 2008 for the PCV drivers and becomes compulsory for LGV drivers from 10th September 2009. Any drivers of lorries of 3.5 tons and upwards must comply with the Driver CPC directive. Note that the existing ‘Transport Manager’s CPC’ also known as the ‘Operator’s CPC’ is a separate qualification and anyone holding one who still drives professionally as part of their job will also need to comply with Driver CPC.
